Product productions

In year 2011, production of sisal products from various spinning mills amounted to 10,036.79 tones. Wrapping twines counted to 54%, Rope 0.13%, Fine yarn 0.12%, dyed yarn 0.22%, Sisal Bags 25%, Carpets 0.04% Baler twine 5% and Binder twine 16%.

 

Sales of fibre

Export Sales

In 2011, 13,837.72 Metric tons of fibre worth US$ 16.84 million was exported. The exports shot up by 19% due to increased demand of sisal fibre in the export markets for various new applications such as composite making.

Local Sales

In year 2011, 9,622.48 Metric tons of fibre worth T.Sh.12.27 billion was traded in the local market

Export Sales

In the year 2011, various sisal products .i.e. twines, yarns, ropes and carpets amounted to 5,973.57 Metric tons worth US$ 9.47 were sold in the external markets

Local Sales

During the year 2011, sales of sisal products in the domestic market reached 3,384.61 Metric tons worth T.Sh.7.28 billion
